I don't mind getting one with such a great price. I am quite satisfy with my Nexus S phone. So I think the Nexus 7 will give me a similar satisfactory level.

Isn't it good to have at least a duopoly instead of monopoly in the tablet market? I will be supporting Android.

Absolutely good thing for us all. Cannot stand iCrapple Locked-down eco-system Commie FAB/sexy devices which are just.. toys.. Looking forward in 3-5 years to be able to do what I do on my corporate lappy on a smartphone/tablet. You know: REAL WORK?

One thing that people miss when it comes to tablets and smartphones is that they are companion devices. They are not supposed to create. They can assist in many situations, and even do the job in rather urgent conditions.

But comparing tablets to desktops and laptops is something that clearly does not make sense.

The "impressive ecosystem that Apple has managed to create over the years" is exactly what I'm trying to get away from. The subscription based SDK, the approval process for apps, being forced to use iTunes, etc. I'll gladly take Android over that.

They will likely drop iTunes at some point. Too old-fashioned.

In a bid to ensure the highest-quality user experience, Nexus 7 will ship with Google Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean" that features new Butter technology which makes operating system respond quicker as well as makes user interface more convenient.

I look forward to this new "Butter" technology.

The Apple crowd doesn't care about features or performance, only that it costs double what the competition is. ie Bragging rights.

I don't get it why the whole fuss about the price. Already in Europe you can buy tablets with the same specs and size for lower than 150$ (dollars), so...

Comparing Nexus 7 with iPad is quite inappropriate
These are two very different devices
Google intention, IMHO, is not to outsell iPad but to define pure google experience in tablet market as is doing in smartphone field.

I recently purchased A 16 GB Nexus 7 and i really love it. My wife likes apple products so i got her and ipad mini for her birthday. she personally says that the ipad mini looks nicer, and feels better, but both my opinion would be biased and so will hers. i have a samsung galaxy s3 so i have had android O.S before. so if you really want to decide to buy it go to youtube or Vimeo and research video reviews of the Google Nexus 7.
