Since making an HTPC is becoming more of annoyance these days thanks to DRM and HDCP, adding a good sound card is getting lower on the need list. Also digital audio can be used, so integrated sound card sounds the same as a discrete sound card. Though I prefer to spend money on better speakers to really tell the difference.
