For the price this cooler is definitely inadequate. It may be good enough to cool a Core i5 @ 4.2-4.4ghz but not the much hotter Core i7 6-core. Generally speaking the top firms moved away from a top-down cooler as the tower coolers proved to be far more effective. I think for those with limited space, but they still want good performance, I'd look at the Noctua NH-C12P SE14 for $60

or just go for one of those self-enclosed watercooling kits that would work much better in a small/cramped case.

The newer processors used in computers today are much faster and produce more heat than their predecessors. Heat sinks are being used to help with the heat problem, but they are not always effective. Installing a liquid cooling system is an effective way to combat the heating problem. Thanks.
