Intel lies. According to picture from page 2 a Core i5 of 3rd gen should have 4 cores/8 threads.

Did you check out the Shogun 2 CPU benchmark? In my experience, that would have most likely shown the biggest difference between the CPUs compared to the other benchmarks used. Shogun 2 depends heavily on single core performance and memory bandwidth/CPU cache.

Starcraft 2 and WOW also hammer CPUs (or generally any MMO such as Guild Wars 2 as well).
