Maybe if Sony wasn't so busy closing Studio's (Game Republic, SCE Studio Liverpool, Zipper Interactive) they would have some those needed resources.

The reality is they want to remain profitable and will continue support 3rd parties for the PS3 10 year life cycle. How ever this time around the next console migration will be over a shorter period of time.

Well given the disgusting way the American media has tried to destroy Sony this generation, and help their American Xbox, I think it's not really Sony's fault...

You might want to think about that next time you pick up your Xbox controller....

As a PC gamer, to me the Xbox360 made no sense at all. Outside of Forza, Gears of War, Halo and Fable there was nothing worth playing in the 6+ years of its existence. I think most of the success of the 360 came from launching 1 year before PS3 and having cheaper prices for the console for the majority of 360's life.

However, as a gaming platform, the 360 was pretty disappointing overall with few worthy exclusives and $50 price premium for Xbox Live GOLD to play games online or use it as a media center for Netflix are just money wasted that can instead be used to buy more games on the PS3.

If I end up getting a next generation console, it for sure won't be the Xbox because so far with both Xbox 1 and 360 MS has not shown at all that they can develop good 1st party titles or secure a large number of quality exclusives.

Sony should just go for the kill and release a console with very good graphics and $399-449 prices. MS will try incorporating Kinect 2.0, which allows Sony to instead spend more $ on the GPU and still be price competitive with MS's next console.

The Cell was also an awfully expensive, slow and power inefficient CPU vs. its level of performance. If they go with A10-5800K and add on an HD7850 2GB GPU, that would be a very good setup against anything MS throws.

The absolute best a console can be in terms of hardware is computer hardware at the time of development. I am interested to see how these "4k Games" are going to look. You know IQ will have to be turned down or that res will eat the VRAM for breakfast.

4K sounds more like a marketing gimmick to sell more 4K TVs for Sony. Not even HD7970 can play modern games at 4K resolution smoothly, so what are the chances a console can play Crysis 3, Metro Last light and games in 2015-2017 at 4K?

I would impressed if the next gen consoles will manage 1080P + 4xAA at 60 fps. Above that sounds like wishful thinking or it might be 4K in cinmetaic videos of MGS or FF games.

AMD now has the technology and resources to make APUs which will be able to handle games with 4K resolution smoothly. My only concern is that Sony should put at least 8GB or better 16GB for Video Memory to make the next-gen games look much better. Memory is quite cheap now and Sony should not save on it this time.

Moreover, AMD could put in an APU and a discrete GPU.
You know what that would mean?
The APU could manage normal code and with the integrated GPU make physics calculations, postprocessing, etcetera. The main GPU could be dedicated entirely for graphics.

And if the CPU, being manufactured by AMD, has an AMD64 architecture then it would mean a lot easier porting and higher quality software.

We know for sure that AMD is not a dickhead company like Intel or NVIDIA, talk about those two with Microsoft and their first Xbox and find what Microsoft can tell you about them.
