Not only were these APUs announced, but you can actually buy the Trinity based APUs today or last week if you had shopped around.

Let's hope in a few weeks Vishera is also available for purchase as it too will be a decent step in performance over Zambezi.

BTW, I've never seen anyone complain that their office word processor ran too slow with any modern CPU/APU so I doubt this is an issue for Trinity desktop APUs. Eventually PC hardware reviewers will learn that benches are not the end all or be all and that they can actually be misleading if they are poorly designed or tainted by Intel $$$.

People who run real applications in blind test preferred AMD over Intel systems when the two systems employed cost the same. That is real world and what most people care about.

The brand fanbois who like to hate are just wasting their energy because hating don't change reality. Every Trinity desktop APU review I have seen online agrees that these new Trinity APUs are very good performing and well priced and placed APUs.

Actually Intel's 35 watt TDP desktop processors like the Pentium G630T performs enough if you put it your way. Also I do not see anybody complain that their graphics is slowing them down in Office.

Actually they do, I've seen a lot of people remark at how much more smooth the GUI response is with a graphics card compared to onboard.

This remind me on Samsung vs Apple.Samsung has better CPU ,but Apple has better GPU unit.So in browser test,game test or other programs where need GPU power ,AMD is the winner.

For the clueless... laptop sales just exceeded desktop sales for the first time, so that means roughly equal sales volume. The desktop PC isn't going away any time soon.

AMD's 65W A10-5700K is for those concerned about power consumption. It's only 5% slower and 35W lower max. TDP. You won't find many consumers worried about a 65W desktop APU consuming too much power.

Anyone serious about a laptop will be buying a Trinity powered laptop so that's another sale for AMD if your choice is laptop over desktop.

As usual the haters and Intel fanbois try to bash AMD every time they deliver another quality product. These are the same fools who argued with me over AMD selling 20 Million APUs...only to show they were true fools when AMD posted notice a few weeks later that they in fact had alread sold 30 Million APUs.

Ignorance is bliss for the haters, but it don't change reality. AMD will deliver Vishera in a few weeks and they'll hate on it too, all the while AMD's sales will continue to grow.

No mate. The GPU is 7 times more efficient at processing than the CPU (quote Tomshardware July 2012). AMD OpenCL framework for APU's is just getting off the ground. It's a game changer. Intel is playing catch up to develop an equally powerful GPU. AMD's APUs already exceed Intel's processing abilities when software is designed for the APU processor. It's just a matter of a critical mass of applications to come about, maybe in 2 to 5 years time. Adobe, Corel and Oracle are already onboard.

AMD should make middle-level and high-end APUs as soon as possible with 800 or 1600 GPU cores and support for >2133Mhz DDR3/DDR4 with 4 channel memory. Then it will be Ok for gaming but Trinity is still a joke for gaming...

I understand that middle-level and high-end APUs will compete with AMD own discrete graphics cards, but at the end it will give more profits to AMD as it will be cheaper than buying separate Intel CPU + Nvidia graphics card so millions of people will buy it for gaming and watching Full HD Videos.

Also high-end APUs will give perfect advertisement for all AMD APUs - like:
"AMD APU for 200-300USD is 10 times better in graphics than Intel Extreme APU for 1000USD"

AMD is restricted by thermal limits at the current manufacturing node in increasing the GPU component. Their processors are finding the "balance" of size and efficiency. From a business point of view, they wouldn't want to cannabilise their higher end discreet GPUs anyhow (it's all about product differentiation). But as I said, I don't think that would be technically possible.

When you buy Trinity for 130usd you also need to buy motherboard for 100usd, + memory 40usd, +hard disk 100usd, +pc case 50usd, +monitor 200usd so anyway you'll have to spend 500-700usd, but the problem for AMD (and Intel) that for the same money you can buy New IPAD which will give similar performance for gaming, Internet and HD Videos as entry-level PC with Trinity, but will be much better option for home use for the same money.

So AMD should make APUs which are not "just a little" but are MUCH better then New IPAD or Intel APUs so that people would start buying PCs and Laptops with AMD APUs.

If you plan to build the cheapest possible system, it will still have much better gaming performance then an ipad with the trinity APU, and you can just buy one from HP for 300 total with monitor... You picked pratically the most exspensive range for each one of those parts, but finally its usually cheaper to buy an OEM pc if you really want the cheapest possible new computer. A more realistic price compairison would be 60 for a cheaper trinity apu, 60 for a motherboard, 30 for ram, 40 for case and power supply together, and 60 for a tiny hard drive, or tiny ssd, 100 for a 20" monitor, which bring the total for building it yourself to 350 with monitor.

Trinity for 60usd will be impossible for gaming, just to play with lowest settings at full HD 1920x1080 you'll need at least Trinity for 130usd with 384 GPU cores, also to compare with New IPAD 2048x1536 screen resolution you'll need monitor with similar quality supporting at least full hd 1920x1080 so for this one you'll have to spend minimum 200usd or more, so add to your 350usd the difference and the total will be around 500 but that's already price for 16gb wifi new IPAD.

Also if you compare games like NOVA 3, Modern Combat 3, Infinity Blade 2 and many others supporting 2048x1536 on new IPAD with modern PC games running on Trinity APU at full hd 1920x1080 but with low settings then you'll see that Trinity is not much better than A5X in the new IPAD.

So hope AMD will start making much better APUs than Trinity soon to make good competition with Intel and ARM!

if you want to do some serious gaming, why would you buy trinity or an ipad?

buy a core i3 system + a discrete gpu (extra 100 over the 350 system i linked above) and you have a $450 system that will have 5x the graphics performance as an ipad.

The 3d games on ipads are a joke, how do you even know what res the textures are or what res the game plays in . Thats like assuming every xbox 360 game is played in 1080p just cause it supports 1080p...

Yes, exactly, for serious gaming we need to buy Intel CPU + external AMD/Nvidia graphics card.

I just wanted to tell that for ENTRY-level gaming AMD APUs have very strong competition from IPAD/Android tablets and not only from Intel, CPU business is not competitive at all now, only External Graphics Cards business is still competitive. So if AMD can not make much better CPUs to compete with Intel at least they have technologies and can improve APUs a lot by integrating much better GPUs into APUs.

I used AMD Duron, Athlon CPUs and a few generations of ATI graphics cards during last 10 years but I see AMD is becoming much less competitive now than before. I just want them to become much stronger and more competitive by improving their APUs (or better SOCs) which potentially can almost fully replace CPU and external graphics cards businesses.
