Microsoft: DirectX 11.1 with Native Stereo-3D Output Is Exclusive for Windows 8.
What is wrong with you?
They would always prefer to move people to the next OS, it makes them money. With me so far?
Windows XP was an OS they liked. They had to stop upgrading it, so more people would go with Vista. Got it?
Vista, like you, wasn't very well liked. People moved off it anyway, and Microsoft looked like a good guy moving other technologies to it. Also, they were more interested in getting people off XP, which was still the dominant OS. Getting people off Vista was easy, it sucked.
Windows 7 is well liked, so Microsoft better stop upgrading it, so people will get Windows 8.
Got it? If the OS sucks, people leave it behind anyway, if it's good, they don't offer upgrades to create reasons to move off of it.
You really can't understand that?
its your comprehension of what he typed thats apparently lacking Maza, but no matter, he said MS ported DX 11 to Vista TO try and make xp user's move to Vista/or STOP USERS dumping that Vista version of their OS and returning to XP depending on how you read it OC.
it didn't work OC as Vista was and is crap, but it does have DX 11, unlike XP that could also use DX11 if they actually back ported it there too, but they wont.
not that any of this "Native_Stereo_3D_Output_Is_Exclusive_for_Windows_8." really matters anyway as the OSS Encode/Decode apps devs x264/ffmpeg/avconv already wrote and so all their 3rd party downstream apps can also use the best visual quality generic Stereo 3D (8bit/9bit/10bit) encode/decode patches from the official specs long before MS even sold windows 8, and its cross platform too.

"Encoding 3D video. What else?"
I wonder if Windows 8 will get the same treatment from Microsoft when it fails?
so its probably up to the masses of ARM commercial vendors to now make it usable for something Compute generic on their mali T6xx kit etc so DirectX 11.1 is pointless on x86 Linux and probably ARM linux too right now unless its good for fractal based algorithmic super HD video frame de-noising etc perhaps.
