Great news! So I can comfortably invest in a AM3+ motherboard knowing that I can likely keep the board when upgrading CPU.

8350 is a CPU with good price/performance.

LOL. Whats new? They also dont want to release new improved microprocessing unit in same time frame until late H2 2014 ... So it's not news it's slightly adapted reiteration of whats already been said.

And should this encourage us to adapt crapptastic AM3+ or FM2. A sockets that should be stable from time of AM3 and 800 chipset series as AMD vocally promised on 890FX/890GX release. Or with FM1 which obviously uses same A55/A75 chipset as FM2.

So THIS promises once again means zilch to me. If i bought i buy without a faith in upgrade. Something that AMD neglect in PC world ever since Famous Socket A.

AMD you're not as big as intel, yet you expect to applaud you when adopting Intel's ripoff practice as well!!

How come you (AMD) vdo not release so many sockets and chi-pests for your s940/sF/sC32/sG34 .... all these use same old chipsets as from day one and yet same new architecture that needed s754->s939 AM2->AM2+ or AM3->AM3+ upgrades. ntm how pricey s754, A64X2 s939 or Phenom sAM2+ were for performance they offered

And now when you're head below in Mr.Hanky reservoir and desktop and notebiook users migrate to greener pastures with Intel offerings you now remember how you'll need a marketing lie again just to keep your market piece from a total collapse.

Some more sober market strategy would be much appreciated.

If you really crapped off 890 AM3+ series and FM1 which obviously could be voltage compatible with first generation FM2 CPU then you certainly need better strategy for a future products because 18-30 month new CPU release cycle along with need for "somethingfancyname" socket with it isnt something that you can afford. Well you could obviously in past as there were many people, early upgraders to AM2 and AM3 that need to stuck with first generation of CPUs because their mobo manufacturers didnt wish to upgrade their BIOS or they deliberately made mobo crap which voltage regulators would comply with previous gen of CPUs and didnt think of upgrade s939 A64X2 and sAM2+ Phenom2 respectively.

2 years? thats nice... but what about my next computer? You know the one I'll build in 5+ years... will it then not have sockets and be like intel? (all rumors)

The biggest thing that bothers me here is that Steamroller won't be around until late 2014.
