E-readers might die but e-books will live on. So who cares what plattform is used? It was a cheap plattform that made sense at the time and a bit into the future but is then replaced by a better one. It's progress.

In my view the biggest advantage of e book readers ( electronic ink) is also their biggest disadvantage,, The only thing holding me back from getting one is the lack of colour. Would love to see a good daylight readable colour reader.. I would prefer that over an energy gulping pad computer for reader books and magazines in colour, and which are crap when reading outside in the bright light of the sun
