Hi,
My experience : All-in-Wonder 9800 SE at 250 € (in France) O/C with softmod : 411 Mhz / 775 Mhz with 8p : score with 3dmark2003 = 6079 ...
(no artefacts, burn 5 hours without problem). (6179 with 420/775 but little artefacts).
I think it was a good deal ...

I see that "all" these new games engines cant do FSAA because of their rendering mode....

How much will FSAA be needed or can be used in the future?
Is FSAA a feature only for "older" games?
Is it why S3/XGI cant do FSAA, it whould be a waste of their time after talking with developers?
Will Doom3, HL2, Far Cry do FSAA?

Guys,

I own an ASUS V9950 Card and it is a GeforceFX 5900 Ultra with 256MB not 128MB as you write in the article, as you can see on Asus' site:

Thanks for the comprehensive article. It was suprising to see a 9600XT on par with a 5950U in the first three (DX9) tests, Halo in particular.

I can't believe you're condoning such unethical practices and buying a 9800 SE, bring it home and testing it to see if it can be modified to a 9800 Pro, and returning it to the store if it can't. That is low... real low. As a major review site you should provide a better example than that.

May I ask how you benchmarked UT2K4? Did you use UMark? Was it a flyby or botmatch? What map?

Thanks in advance. :)

Great test! Especially that a Radeon 9800 PRO can almost out-perform a XT card with some overclocking. But I found the differences remarkable small between XT and unclocked PRO card. In other benchmarks I've seen average differences on 5-10% in performance (XT ofcourse faster) between the two cards.

I also heard some rumors that ATI has done some major adjustments in 9800 PRO pricing in Canada. 10-20% cheaper now. Anyone can confirm and know if there will be any impact soon in europe? Today I can buy a ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128 mb for €224 (2100 SEK) in Sweden. Would be nice to know if there will be any further drops in pricing :)

Hi,
I'm a little bit supprise to see the 9600XT OC ability in this review.

I just bought 9600XT 128MB memory code is Samsung KD4263238E-6C2A
but can only push my Radeon to 580.5/330.8 that is core/memory
what I feel so lack about is only the memory OC ability..
if go higher than 330.8, I got artefact.

does this review add extra heatsink to the memory ?

come on, please help me

Great article! How can you tell what versions of ATI 9800 SE cards are 128-bit and which are 256-bit. I haven't been able to figure it out on vendor websites. Can you give me some model numbers from manufacturers such as Asus and Saphire. Thank you!
