Good to see that AMD is making a lot of progress in the APU market. Kaveri looks really impressive. I might just wait for Kaveri to come out in the second half of this year to build my new system around to replace my old AM2+ system.

What I would really like to know is what platform will Kaveri use.

Richland looks very good right now and knowing that AMD has promised platform continuity for FM2, I've been recommending Trinity builds to my clients with Richland upgrade path as a "sure thing."

The fact is that FM2 would be even more attractive if Kaveri will also be compatible with current motherboards.

One common desire for home and business clients is to have a long lived platform.

Investing in new systems every two years is not really good for the constrained budgets we've been dealing with during the past few years.

I'm pretty sure kaveri is going to use the FM2 platform.

AMD has stated that FM2 will be the APU platform for quite some time, which includes Kaveri.

I read somewhere that Kaveri will use the FM2+ socket along with the new Bolton Chipset.

There is no doubt that AMD leads in the APU segment and has since it's inception. Their significant performance improvements in low power APUs are a good indication for future desktop models like Steamroller, seeing as though Kaveri uses Steamroller cores.

This new line up is great, I can't wait for the Termesh Tablets to go on sale. But my only concern is the date for the availability of these APU's. All AMD say's is that Kabini and Termesh will be available in the 1H of 2013, and Kaveri in the 2H of 2013. And with the occasional hints that these PC's wont be fully available till June makes me think that the Kaveri APU's wont be available till the 4Q of 2013.

AMD's priority is to have an exceptional chip to offer for the TabletPC market.

This is a fast growing market that's full of missed opportunities for AMD so they need to have at least "something" if not "something good" to offer the gadget makers.

In AMD's world right now, something = Hondo and something good = Kabini and Temash.

The desktop market is not growing too much and any growth is achieved quite slow so Kaveri is not top priority.

Also I think they're still working on the Steamroller architecture.

Putting Jaguar first was a tremendously good idea from AMD's part and it doesn't really matter what AMD desktop DIY fans think about it.

CPU + Graphics = APU = ground breaking engineering
GPU compute on APU (HSA) = ground breaking computing

You can't accuse AMD of marketing spin. This is real innovation. Stop trolling and sucking eggs because Intel didn't invent it.

The PC as we know it is and always was a basic business tool. It was not a consumer item, what we see here is the market change from using a business unit as a consumer item. To a market segment aimed at the consumer, not the business community. Once we fiddlers with PC's get over the fact that high end computers are used by a small % of non business users, gamers etc. Intel has always catered for the commercial accounting, word processing and other commercial users which did not need anything more than basic graphics other than CAD etc with high end graphics. AMD has and is still the tinkers choice of CPU etc as they have made this their main sector or to put it another way they have always catered to the consumer market and generally done a good job and still do.

all those news for APU how about none APU ike the FX8350 type upgrade does AMD HAS ANYTHING IN THE PIPE-LINE?
