I wouldn't worry much at all about the loss of L3 cache. The L3 cache on AMD processors is horrible anyway; it's grotesquely slow.
Having a better architecture while dropping some bad performing cache is well worth it, not only for performance, but also for energy use (TDP isn't a real measurement, just a guideline).
AMD has said they finally figured out why their cache is so slow, but apparently we won't see the fix until the move to 28 nm later this year.
Until then, for $101, this is an excellent trade-off.
