In overall size, maybe, but in number of transistors on the chip, it is the largest.
Between the GTX280 and the GK110, the process has shrunk from 65nm to 28nm, so if you bring it back to the same process scale as the GTX280, the GK110 would be in excess of 1200mm2

Feb 18th, 2 days before PS4's launch announcement to hype up PC gaming/NV's graphics leadership?

"However, Nvidia’s revenue outlook for the next quarter fell short of expectations. The chipmaker estimates its revenue in the current quarter will be $940 million, not even close to $1.067 billion expected by analysts."

Investors may not be happy to find out NV didn't get PS4 contract and Tegra 4 is most likely not going to get new Nexus design wins. This may be a good PR move to offset those negatives.

I thought of the PS4 hi-jack scenario as well. But this article says it's not a better gaming card than the dual core Radeon. Mr Huang must have been smoking opium or something to dream up this nonsense for desktop consumers - in Xanadu did Mr Huang a mega TFLOPS graphics card decree....

With this card maybe I can enable AA, ultra shaders and shadows and still have ~100 fps in Crysis 2 and BF3. On the 27" 2560x1440 120hz ips korean monitor, you know.

SLI can have frame lag and microstutter so I prefer a single card.

690 is $1250
680 overclocked 4gb is $800

If this Titan is as fast as they say and it's under $1000 then it isn't a stupid a purchase as some claim.
I want to go back to a single card setup from these 480's SLI that served well, Heat and microstutter with multiple cards is annoying.
I would pick one up but doubt I'll be that lucky here in Australia with the under $1k part as usual.
Time will tell.

I got both my 680's for around $760 total, not including cash back and rewards on my credit card which is around 11%. So if this costs more than that, it's a bit pointless?

And it also seems like it's 8800 Ultra: The Sequel.
