And this is just the beginning!!!

The important point is to hopefully have more developers (especially non-game developers) to get familiar with optimizing codes for AMD APU architecture, utilizing OpenCL. And it may lead to the creation/popularity of a AMD optimized compiler. Then more software will be compiled efficiently for computers equiped with AMD's processors.

I'm glad AMD has taken on open standards like OpenCL rather than custom libraries like PhysX. It'll be better for optimizing computing in general.

This will definitely pay off in the near future. Thumbs up AMD for the good business practice!

True. We gamers no longer had see nVidia PhysX, CUDA tech, 3D Vision on future games. This is a big win for AMD and big blow for nVidia and there fanboys.

Haha, I'm still owning and gonna own nVIdia, cause i like their technology + i can at least render things better on graphical development software like Blender etc. Sorry, i like PhysX very much, it looks really good in games that uses it, smooth cloth movement in wind, soft smoke (it's something new this time, it's visible if you activate one option regarding PhysX in Batman: Arkham Origins, that when you move, you interact with smoke, smoke is actually moving away as you move, for example, like scooping with your hand smoke, it comes along and only the top stays in, but everything else falls as normally would) so basically, i like nVidia and their technology, AMD from other hand is too simple, only going for FPS without cool features, only first one was in TOMB RIDER, forgot how it was called, but similar to PhysX, only much primitive versions of PhysX, cause it wasn't looking that good. Doing strategy like(what AMD did with EA) is kinda smart, but, it's pathetic, cause it seems they are desperate for something, or...from something. Btw, if this is going to be some blow for nVidia, dunno, cause in near future, i read an article about it, that CEO of nVidia is going to be CEO(or other very high title) of INTEL, similar to what AMD did with ATI, combined, and it nVidia still was leading back in those times when AMD united with ATI, then think of what nVidia will be able gain working with INTEL.

frosbite is one of the most successful, popular engine and if frosbite is optimize for amd than its very impressive.actually i want to see HSA optimization coz if it happens than surely amd sea island(supports discrete HSA) will be a killer for nvidia and kaveri for intel also.
i personally have a much bigger news that CRYENGINE is also going to heavily optimize for amd hsa system.

CPU side isn't too different, Intel has the hands down better architecture, especially now that they added FMA instructions to haswell (which was the only thing AMD had going)

GPU will be more interesting, since AMD is almost exclusively integer arithmetic in nature, almost the same difference as nvidia when you compare single and double performance. It'll be a throwback to the RAGE3d days, and the old quake 0x5f3759df days... you can expect a ton of new magic numbers in the next few engines.

Of course it will run better on AMD THEY are bundling new radeon cards with BF4

marketing gimmick at its finest

too bad this game will suffer from same shitty netcode bf3 had so ill pass on bf4

Have to agree BF3 netcode is total rubbish! There are so many sure shot kills lost just because of that nonsense. I even get the feeling some have become experts just by developing a technique to exploit the flaw. Meaning they don't learn to shoot or aim better but to exploit the netcode weakness to the max!

"Game consoles nowadays are the main revenue drivers for game developers and publishers thanks to absence of piracy"

Have you looked at a game torrent lately? I sometimes see more console torrented games than PC ones. Don't act like consoles are exempt from piracy, because that isn't even close to the truth. It is BS news like this that has kept Madden out of PC players hands for 6-7 years.

Also to the AMD fan boys in here, which is plentiful for such an article, next-gen consoles are going to increase PC gaming quality across the board. It won't just be AMD powered GPUs that get a boost from consoles finally having DX11 hardware. This is far from new news, aside from the fact AMD is paying EA more money right now than NVIDIA is. Do you really think NVIDIA is just going to stand in place with their GK110 waiting for AMD to catch up?

don't forget that nvidia traded computing performance for graphical performance. (except for titan). so we need to look to the next generation to know how it end up. if amd has hsa for there gpu than amd 'wins'. if nvidia has stacked DRAM on there next card than then it is victory for nvidia.

I'm pretty sure the game itself will still run very well on Nvidia. It would be fatal for game developer to cater AMD but not Nvidia.

I love how idiots in the "nvidia sees it as a positive thing" article kept telling me that nvidia wouldn't get crushed in the next round of games... I love nvidia but sadly they made a mistake not participating in the console wars.

...when designing video games and engines, engineers will optimize everything for AMD general-purpose processors, graphics hardware as well as heterogeneous processing architecture in general.

Simply superb, and now I feels I took the right decision that I bought Radeon HD 7870XT(Tahiti LE) instead of GeForce GTX 660Ti. AMD had a bright future by this white wash win on all console hardware.

Meh, AMD fans just don't give up. K10 was going to be the savior, then Bulldozer, now it's GCN/HSA/whatever BS. It doesn't change, AMD overpromises and underdelivers.

NV is practically a graphics-only company and spends more on R&D than AMD does on it's graphics and cpu businesses combined. 1+1 = 2 and optimizations won't make up for an inferior architecture.

I sincerely hope it will bring good things. Such duality forces companies to strive in bringing value to the customers.

You're right that AMD fans just don't give up. We support a company that doesn't pay off companies not to use competitor's chips (Intel). We support a company that doesn't refuse to admit there's a defect with their graphics chips, and then does everything it can not to compensate people with fried graphics chips in their laptop computers (nVidia bump-gate). So yes, AMD supporters 'don't give up' supporting the company that deals ethicially with their customers. Because of Intel and nVidia's past unethical/shoddy business practices, I will never buy one of either company's products again. That's what you reap by screwing your own customers.

In addition, now that AMD has Jim Keller and Raja Koduri back at the company, heading the CPU and Graphics divisions respectively, I don't see anything but positive developments for AMD going forward.

With that performance, I expect epic failure for BF4
