Intel Skylake to Bring AVX 3.2, DDR4, PCI Express 4.0, Other Innovations - Slide.
Usually they made announcements for plans of maximum 6 months away . They announced only when was capable to quickly add to the market a product.
GCN(launched in 2012) supports unified memory same as nvidia maxwell(sheduled in 2014-15).....is this a joke?
and u told By 2015,AMD Excavator.....yes it is but actually that's not what AMD is intended for,, research on GCN showed AMD's real plan for future . actually frnd AMD is trying make a impossible thing and GCN gives clue about that mysterious design frnd i m betting that will biggest change in computing since 1990.
For your information PCIe 2.0 is already saturated for server user. Put in a RAID card with some SAS HDDs hooked up or PCIe based SSD and you'll see. People needs to be more open minded, not just think from gaming experience. Intel is actually actively working on bringing these improvements to mainstream market.
PCIe was never designed soley for GPU (only AGP was designed exclusively for GPU), it is designed as a universal expansion slot. Same with USB, universal external port.
You are too narrow minded.
PCI-X = PCI eXtended (dying standard)
PCI-X expanded on PCI while PCIe is the successor of both PCI and AGP.
You are the one that is confused on both term
just for information nvidia is testing 3D memory designs and AMD tested successfully in 2011 but not launched coz cost but now cost is decreasing that's why GlobalFoundries is going to launch its 3D memory in Q1orQ2 2014.
and yes intel is also going to launch its 3D memory stacked xeon-phi in 2015-16
That's why PCIe4.0 is coming frnd
Skylake is first to support DDR4 for mainstream CPU's which should be out in 2015
