The only thing I really want MS to do is bring back Flight Simulator.

Their Windows PC gaming department has been disbanded.

They had it in beta a couple years ago, it was horrid and then it got cancelled.

So as big as microsoft is they weren't doing this a long time ago? No wonder most of their products are way behind a lot of their main competitors.

Most products are way behind competitors? What would those be?

But the real money makers: Office, SQL Server, Visual Studio would like a word with you. They are heads and shoulders ahead of competition.

That's the only reason why these products are successful. MS is an absolute monopoly and since people don't want to change their software, MS wins and can overcharge for absolutely crappy products like no other.
They hardly have anything new that has been successful. Their only success is from abusing their monopoly.

Oh so the guy who heads development of Windows Phone is going to be over the Windows OS, I see where this is going! It is time to start researching Linux distros, maybe start with running a windows 7/Linux dual boot, and gradually move over to using mostly Linux, as the windows only third party applications become available on Linux, it is only a matter of time! After windows 7's EOL I can Keep it around in a VM. sans any Internet access! Really, by the time Windows 7 EOLs, I expect that some PC makers will be offering their products, with a type 1 hypervisor/VM, and I will be able to run any OS, or multiple OSs, hardware resources permitting, I desire, and all this foolishness about what OS will come with the computer will be over for good!

Moving the troops around when the chief is the problem is not going to change anything.
Semi private organizations with out regular renewal at the top always fail.

But Ballmer is still there, surrounded by women who probably can't challenge the gorilla.

They are putting the head of the least successful department in charge of Windows? Windows Phone has gone backwards over the last five years both in terms of market share and features. They should sack the WP team and just use a modified version of Windows for the phone.

'a business unit in charge of acquisitions and relationships with software developers (to be overseen by Tony Bates)'

That should read 'stealing small developers software' and getting away with it most of the time

Ballmer is a disaster to MS, to be honest. ALL the products launched on his leadership are almost complete CRAP: Windows 8, Office 356, Office 2013, Xbone, windows phones with almost no valuable App market for OS, ubber expensive tablets with Win 8, etc, etc.
This guy definitely wants to destroy MS, no doubt about it.

Windows 8 is actually better than Windows 7. I actually have 2 laptops - one with Windows 7 and one with Windows 8.

I find 7 is fine for old laptops, but 8 rocks on touch and desktops (a high sensitivity mouse in windows finally works!)
