1. Humm dont understand one says no other says yes...
What i really want to see is cheap socket 754 cpu's even if they are 32bit only or if they want to "give" 64bit ones as a no hyperthting "compensation". They must be cheap, 150€ and lower. [Posted by: I | Date: 04/20/04]
2. Waiting till October to produce 90nm chips will be too late. I've talked to tons of folks who are just waiting till 939 and 775. And if the only chips AMD has to offer, as fast as they are, are end of process 130nm I think a lot of folks who 'could' be AMD customers will move Intel. The new sockets and pci-e slots are the only thing holding a vast number of waiting customers back. I think Intel will improve the heat situation and offer some very compelling chipsets in June. AMD will have the socket 939 and decent chipsets by then but pci-e may come in July. But by then, they had better have 90nm chips to go with them, or I think a great portion of the market will buy Intel, and thus, and those customers are then out of the AMD market for at least 2 yrs or more...
I hope both companies understand how many are waiting for this, and how important it is not to be late... [Posted by: Anemone | Date: 04/20/04]
3. #2, most folks don't base their purchasing decisions on fab processes. Better to do it right than to do it how Intel has shown us.

4. I think more do than you might think. But perhaps you are correct and what they are waiting for is a combination of features, pci-e being of course often mentioned. I think we'll see soon enough, but I do think bringing FX-55 late in the year, since I'm guessing Sep is rather optimistic, is going to be very late to the 2004 market.
I guess we'll see. AMD seems to be betting that socket 939 will offset any new announcements by Intel, but I don't think it alone will do that. :) [Posted by: Anemone | Date: 04/20/04]
