Why the hell is PCI SATA RAID an advantage ??? it's impossible to effectively use it unless U own incredibly slow drives. On the other hand it increases the price of the board for effectively nothing. Much better way is to buy board without it + PCI controller when someone must stuck with nVidia for socA for now.

I suggest that a BIG drawback is that every nForce board doesn't have integrated SATA controller thus for my only usable chipsets are these with 8237 or 964 SB.

I found some errors in the article that could be misleading,you wrote " ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe uses a chip from 3Com, while its predecessor had a controller from Marvell", A7N8X Deluxe uses 3Com and A7N8X-E Deluxe uses Marvell. And in the table you enclosed information about "Adjustable North Bridge voltage" but later in article wrote that mainboard does not allow for changes in voltage for North Bridge, which is true. Except that, good article :)

I have installed XP original build 10 times on this board in a variety of confirugations. I have an 80 GIG EIDE drive that proceeded smoothly once I removed all PCI Cards except for the 1.5 volt AGP video card. I next tried a Seagate Barracuda 7200 120 GIG SATA drive. Blue Screen 10 times until I entered the Silicon Image Bios by pressing F4 and low level formatting the drive. I then went to Silicon Image's web site and downloaded the most recent drivers and unzipped them to a floppy drive. On boot from the CDROM, the I then pressed F6 and inserted the floppy in the drive. I selected the XP driver which was then loaded. The installation then proceeded smoothly.

Next I connected two Seagate Barracuda SATA 120 GIG drives. I entered the Silicon Image BIOS and low level formatted the two drives. I create a raid 0 striped set and exited the bios. I turned off the computer and then restarted it for a cold boot. I then pressed F6 at the prompt and inserted the Silicon Image driver disk in the floppy. After all drivers were loaded and XP was loading the operating system BLUE SCREEN.

I put a knoppix 3.4 CDROM in the cd and booted Linux in less than 30 seconds. I could probably install knoppix linux in less than 2 hours using a NET install.

Come on Silicon Image, ASUS, and Microsoft.

I expect to spend less than 23 hours installing software and debugging your software installation procedure. I am convinced that this board although nice - S U C K S

3 D MAX 6 etc.
thats why i need the desktop which is suitable for above application.
i personally intrested in 64 BIT AMD ATHLON PROCESSOR

Hi. I use ASUS A7N8X-E DELUXE and i am very happy that I bought this mainboard. My processor is overclocked... Its Athlon XP 1600+@1900+(Palamino) and it's stabily.
I have one note... Slots of power connectros is to close by IDE conncectors.

Well its good to see no one else is having problems with their ASAS A7N8X-E Deluxe like I am. I have Athlon XP 2400, nVidia GeForce FX 5200, 512 MB Ram and 80 GB HHD also got a new 400W p/s.I use Win XP Pro sr1 and sr2. I've clean loaded XP many times lately and soon get stop commands and BSOD. I've got the latest updates for all my drivers that I can think of. I can't use my All in one wonder TV PCI, some DVD's crash and some 3 year old games lock up. These all worked on my old mobo with XP. BIOS is up to date. I'd wouldn't even attempt to over clock anything. Although I'm not an expert, I have experence with old computers and radar systems. I still have to use dialup and have disabled the onboard LAN modems.
So anyone out there that had grief and solved their problem, let me know or any pros that can urge me on ...I'm all eyeballs.

This board Asus A&N8X-E sucks.... I took it to a highly qualified computer guru and even he can't get the thing to install XP. He blames SATA protocol that conflicts with those used by the manufactuters of the drivers/burners.

the A7N8X E DELUXE, works well if your using all ide drives, but when you run sata drives this board does not perform well at all. Maybe it doesn't work because theres no onboard controller, in the chipset.

After having made 5 machines on this mother board...and all worked right out of the box.... I am very impressed with it....I dont overclock but leave that up to the consumer.So far I have had no returns after 16 week and I know they all get used every day. Eack of the 5 were configured in a different wat as per the consumers needs and there have been NO failurers...that certainly says something for ASUS's ability to produce a solid product

I've had A7N8X Deluxe rev 1.06 and the rev 2.0 and A7N8X E Deluxe. The 1.06 used to BSOD I thought it was FDD show codecs with certaim drivers- the 5.10 nForce2 package These boards never got on with. Also the Silicon Image drivers v1.0.0.50 stopped the rev 2.0 board dead - complete reinstall.The A7N8X-E has been ok so far but they all seem to prefer package 4.27 and Sil v1.0.0.33 and I don't think they like Nvidia GeForce 5200 card either - quite a picky mb

One of the best socket a boards i have ever seen, and used, running the server and the game on the same computer has been un noticeable with the athlon xp 2100, over clocked to the 2400(2.00 GHZ), very reliable and has alot of user friendly features, such as boot off keyboard. Very nice

I have the A7N8X-E Deluxe, which I reckon is a great board, although there are definite issues. I have Kingston 512MB RAM (single channel), which is not on the recommended RAM list by ASUS and it can't exceed 166MHz. It also seems to be incompatible with Norton Antivirus 2005, which causes a restart every 3 minutes, without any way to stop it (like hitting the reset button, NOT like the Blaster worm). But SATA works fine, I am running the onboard sound and a SB Audigy at the same time, no issues - that's pretty unexpected. But I am very confused about the WiFi slot. I suppose I need some come of weird card to plug in it, but nobody knows what the hell I'm talking about. They tell me to just get a PCI card...
So I suppose it comes with the good, the bad and the downright ugly...
