Hi .... i have an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo with 512 ram(dual mode) coupled with an athlon 3200+ not OC.. 580watt hiper PSU and nvidia fx5200 128mb GPU.

I had a maxtor 120 ata HDD in .. but that was making a strange clicking noise and sometimes made me have the 'BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH' .. so i thought, OH, ill buy a newer/better Hdd... So i purchased the Seagate 250gb S-ata... after a few problems trying to get the Mobo to recognize it.. i got it working perfect......

i installed xp pro SP1 (upgrading to SP2) and split the drive into 4 bits... 100gb for games.. 50gb 50gb 50gb for other crap.. now i have noticed that the HDD is constantly making a little clicking noise when it loads stuff... i have no idea if SEAGATE HDD's do that all the time, as its the first time iv ever had one.... and again, i have had the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH twice... it goes on and off, all i manage to read is... hardware something something.. shutdown.. then it restarts...

could anyone help me on this ???

CAN I USE AN AMD Athlon XP 3000+ WITH THIS ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe Mainboard ?

I was hoping to find out what kind of FSB speeds other people were able to achieve with their boards. I could get mine stable 216 MHz without any mods at all. On cold nights in winter I can get to windows with 219 MHz; however, my system will lock occasionally while running Prime95. Taking off the NB heatsink and removing the crappy, pink thermal pad and replacing it with some AS5 will help greatly. Also, although I can't say from first hand experience I've heard that the south bridge chipset will also get hot during overclocking. Lastly, as with all nForce2 chipsets, the NB is definately not flat. After lapping the north and south bridge chips, an AMD heatsink that came with my old 1700+ Palomino, and modding the NB heatsink to fit on the SB chip I can get the board to boot at at least 222 MHz FSB. Unfortunately, I'm currently not able to test the limits as my BIOS chip has become completely corrupted.... the computer doesn't even POST. When the new BIOS chip gets here in the mail I'll start pushing this board again. Right now I have a 2500+ that was pulled from a computer I saw in the garbage (yes, I have no shame) running at 2.442 GHz (11 x 222)

if your windows restart without any reason and you have a barton cpu try to put in bios "fsb spread spectrum" - "disable"

I used to have this motherboard, it did me well. However we all know that the 64 boards with PCI-E expansion slots are the predators now and these motherboards are becoming extinct. It's powerful for what it could handle, Athlon XP 3200+ max I believe.

Type "system failed memory test" into a search engine and see how many times this motherboard comes up.
I have two of these boards both with the same problem. Corsair Memory Modules used on both of them. And neither Corsair or Asus can fix them.

I was wondering if this board supports 3 1 gb ddr400 memory sticks that can be run in dual channel at a memory freq. of 200mhz. I have 2 1 gb sticks already running dual channel at 200mhz, or will it drop down in speed by adding the third.

What is the limit to the video card specs..? MB and MHZ? Im buying a new video card so your help would be good. :D
