Hmm. Waiting for socket 939 has turned out to be alot like waiting for Doom 3 and HL2. Sad.

I'm thinking: 90 nm Socket 939 with 1 GHz HT bus, dual channel DDR2 667 MHz, PCI Express, SATA2... that trusty old 2500+ Barton is going to have to do for a while ;)

The delay thing is beginning to look familiar. Almost as soon as they really ramp up the 90nm parts Intel will be very close to making 65nm parts. These delays are costing them dearly, imo.

I'm thinking more and more a cheap Prescott oc'd or if I splurge a 775 EE, but also DDR2 667, pci-e and sata. But for me all those things are going to be possible in July rather than December.

You really don't think 90nm are going to show up till the end of the year do you? Of course not. 939 and 90nm are harder to do well than they sound, as AMD is finding out.

In English things that are delayed are pushed *back* not *forward*.

Can't wait for these. As soon as they get out I'm buying one of these speedy Athlon 64 CPUs. Common AMD, make it quick! My money is waiting!

Full of untruths --
1. "Push forward" means earlier, not later, so the title is misleading
2. Q2 50K+700K (939/754) does not include Opterons, which should exceed 200K.
3. Q3 260K+970K -- you've got to be kidding. Why would AMD not transition MOST of 130nm production to S939? The die size is smaller and performance much higher for a given MHz rating. Also AMD again confirmed shipments of 90 nm processors in Q3. Where are those numbers in your forecast?
4. Q4 540K+900K --The total is WAAAY too small since Ruiz again confirmed that K8s will outnumber K7s in Q4. That means 4M, not 1.44M. Also, a brokerage report recently said they expect 500K Opterons sold in Q4.
5. Q1 1200K+250K -- Directly contradicts Ruiz K8>K7 a quarter earlier than this.

Well, if "THE SOURCE" can't quote AMD correctly, why should we believe what "THE SOURCE" says about AMD's production rates a year in the future, no less?

AMD did NOT say they would sell >1M K8s in Q1, they said, the COULD MANUFACTURE 1M K8s in Q1. There is a very big difference between saying that they COULD and saying that they WOULD.
