Well, if you read the text for the pictures i think you can figure it out.
Specifically where its supposed to be a straight "thing", and its gotten half a meter bent out of shape.

An awful lot of helium would have escaped and major damage would have been done. Because helium is expensive and hard to obtain quickly in large quantities (the LHC contains the equivalent of the entire world's annual production), it would have represented a major setback.

Ok, there have been stories going around that some event in the future might be affecting the LHC in the present, which is total hogwash.

People are saying that it is some warning that we shouldn't turn it on.

Well, another event has smacjed the LHC when it is suppoed to come online this year.

Bread. And a bird.

Yip, they fire two cars around in a circle and they hit each other at high speed. New form of crash test I think Smile

Nice linky! Thanks!! Cool

Proton-Proton collisions, functioning Beam 1 and 2!! Very nice.. now if they can do that at full power next spring ( this was a half-power run to test the repairs first ), they will prove whether or not the Higgs boson/mass particle/force carrier exists in the 10^14 Electron-Volt (EV) range or not... exciting indeed!! Very Happy Cool
