Is this company for real ?

I was like Shocked when i saw these. so are they true or did someone forgot the date of April fools day Confused

Quote:
The Atom Chip Corporation promises to demonstrate a prototype notebook computer based upon its new Quantum II microprocessor at the Consumer Electronic Show in January. The system will reportedly feature a core processing chip operating at 6.8GHz coupled with 1TB of main memory and 2TB of solid-state storage, with both data subsystems being comprised of non-volatile quantum-optical synchronous memory.

I would say it's a fake.. the "optical transcievers" in the CPU are facing a blank cover (when the cover is on) so how could they work?
Besides I'm not too sure GHZ is an appropriate measure for the chip anyway.
Too much RAM too.

How can it be fake?! It's got an "OK" seal of approval on it! I can't wait for my 25GHZ chip. Just PayPal'd 'em my last $2,000.00 for it. They assured me it will be here soon.

Indeed.

Aside from generally "unbelievable" specs, the technologies they espouse do not yet exist in anywhere NEAR production form. "Quantum-optical"? Laughing While you could certainly harness optical signaling to some extent, the creation of any kind of "usable" quantum processor would be HUGE, IMMENSE news at this stage.

Second, it runs Windows XP. Last I checked, XP hasn't been ported to the "quantum-optical" architecture. So this is an x86 "quantum-optical" processor? Rolling Eyes

Weight: 2.2 kg with 4 (!) P-M CPUs. Rolling Eyes

If all that wasn't enough, some of the math simply doesn't add up:
Quote:
In this NvIOpRAM the information is recorded and read by a laser beam. The density of information of this memory is 128MB/square millimeter having the thickness of the recording media (array) of 20microns. 3.2GB of NvIOpSRAM are contained in one cubic millimeter. Also, this new Quantum-Optical technology allows NvIOpRAM to be built up to 256GB in one package. 256GB of memory fits in a recording media with the physical dimensions of: length- 10mm, width- 4mm and thickness- 4mm.

They claim density of 128MB/sq mm. If that is true, how does one get 256GB from 40 sq mm of media space? Rolling Eyes

The site is humorous.

It says something here about atom chips but i have no time to read it must go to work..
http://www.europhysicsnews.com/full/18/article3/article3.html

Also it seems that the company used to be called Compu-Technics.

Quote:
Compu-Technics is a research & development corporation. It is a world leader in the manufacturing of Quantum-Optical RAM and storage. Ultra-Portable Wireless NoteBook "SG111" is a new product from the company: 100GB/256GB AtomChip Non-Volatile RAM and Storage / 4.0GHz AtomChip

Would be really great if this where what it looks like, the big bottleneck the harddrive could be removed by something better, but we shall see Wink

Read the article. It's hard to imagine that they are talking about a technology that would reasonably be used to power Windows XP in a laptop anywhere near today. The technology does not even appear to have logic gates yet. Of course, I'm not conversant in most of this technology, so I don't really know. Where's MTX now that we need him? Wink

Windows XP can only support 4gigs of memory right? So what does the other 996gigs of memory do?

I bet the laptops powered by Intel Extreme2 graphics just to sweeten the deal.

yes the 32 bit version, but what about the x64 version Wink
unless microsoft built in some limitation it should be exponentially more memory supported..

Edit ok i looked it up:
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition initially supports up to 128 gigabytes (GB) of RAM and up to 16 terabytes of virtual memory. Physical memory support will grow in the future as hardware capabilities expand.

...except that a Pentium-M is incompatible with x64.

yeah if you actually bought one for false advertisements which gets you your cash back but at the cost of wasted court time and not to mention lawyer fees if you get one...
