VIA Technologies, one of the world’s largest chipset designers, unveiled its sales results for March this week. Apparently, despite of positive indications in February, the company’s sales continued annual and sequential decline in March, which is alarming information for a company, who aims to penetrate the chipset market.

Revenues of Taipei, Taiwan-based chipset developer VIA Technologies fell 12.38% from February and achieved about $43.2 million in March 2004. The sales results are also 23.60% lower compared to revenues of $56.831 million in March 2003.

Officials for VIA typically do not comment on the company’s market performance and product mix. As reported earlier, VIA intends to establish a strong position on the lucrative high-end and performance-mainstream chipsets market by being the first to market with its new generation of chipsets supporting innovative technologies like PCI Express or DDR2.
