VIA Technologies recently unveiled its sales results for the month ended on the 30th of April, 2004. Last month the Taipei, Taiwan-based core-logic developer did better than in March, but still did not beat the results of April 2003.

The world’s second largest chipset designer’s net sales for April 2004 were approximately $45.69 million. On a sequential basis, this monthly sales revenue represents a 6.31% increase over March’s figure of about $42.98 million. On the annual basis, VIA’s sales dropped 12.5% from April 2004’s figure of $51.948 million.

So far VIA has been considerably less successful in terms of sales this year compared to 2003. From January to April, sales of VIA declined 21.66% to $174.998 million from the last years figure of $223.374 during the same period.

VIA typically does not comment on its sales and profits. However, the company’s profit have been in green during Q4 2003 and Q1 2004, according to the recently released financial report, indicating that despite of falling revenues, the company is profitable.

Later during the year the company will market high-margin PT890 and KT890 chipsets for future microprocessors from Intel and AMD, which is likely to bolster the firm’s earnings.
