We received additional details on Intel’s launch schedule of new processors with 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus and supporting-chipsets. Although the correlation between the latest Intel’s roadmap and the information about availability of the new Pentium 4 processors with D-1 stepping is very little (see February 26 news-story), it still makes sense to represent Intel’s intention to deliver the new CPUs in April this year.

Presently Intel wants to launch its 3.0GHz chip for 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus and the Hyper-Threading technology support sometime in the second half of April, between the 14th and 28th. The new processor seems to be aimed for workstations, as it will be accompanied by Intel’s i875P (formerly known as Canterwood) core-logic product.

The Santa Clara, California-based processor giant plans to launch its 2.40C, 2.60C and 2.80C MHz processors with 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus and Hyper-Threading technology between the 12th and 16th May, on the 20th week. The new CPUs will be accompanied by Intel’s i865G, i865P and i865PE (Springdale) chipsets at launch.

Note that now the company decided to postpone the introduction of the Pentium 4 processor 3.20GHz from April to May or even June.

Remember that what is published in the roadmap may contradict to what eventually happens just because companies change their roadmaps based on the market situation.
