We, as well as some other observers, candidly believed that AMD will introduce its Athlon XP “Barton” processors with 400MHz FSB already this month. However, our thoughts were not correct, since AMD’s current processor lineup is rather competitive and there are still no new rivals for the Athlon XP “Barton” chips on the market.

SiS as well as NVIDIA, not talking about VIA, has not supplied really a lot of chipsets capable of working with 200MHz EV-6 FSB. Even though some NVIDIA nForce2-based mainboards can provide such PSB, it seems that at the moment there are not many solutions of this kind. Given that the current family of CPUs from the Sunnyvale-based developer sells pretty well and there are not too many platforms to support chips with faster system bus, the company postponed the release of the Athlon XP “Barton” 3000+ and 3200+ to May.

OPN codes for the newcomers are AXDA3000DKV4E and AXDA3200DKV4E, both chips will operate on 1.65V core-voltage and will be clocked at 2200MHz and 2100MHz for 3200+ and 3000+ model respectively.

Unfortunately, we know nothing about the prices of the novelties, but stay tuned with us and you will know it among the first.
