Intel Corporation is set to launch Celeron processor at 2.70GHz on the 24th of September, slash the prices on the whole Celeron family on October 26 and to unveil Celeron 2.80GHz chip on the 5th of November, HardWare.fr web-site reported today.

As expected, the Celeron at 2.70GHz will become available after the formal announcement on the 24th of September at $103 per chip in quantities starting from 1000 units.

We also told you before that on the 26th of October there will be a major update in Intel Pentium 4 processor’s pricing (see this news-story), but, apparently, the company will also cut down the Celeron pricing the same day. The price of the top – 2.70 and 2.60GHz – chips in the family will remain on the same levels, whereas the 2.50, 2.40 and 2.30GHz Celeron processors will drop to $79, $69 and $69 respectively in 1000 or more units quantities (see current official Celeron pricing here).

Watch out for the Intel Celeron CPU at furious 2.80GHz core-clock speed on the 5th of November. Its price for distributors will be $117.

All current and future Celeron processors launched or to be launched in 2003 are made using 0.13 micron technology, incorporate 128KB of L2 cache and utilize 400MHz Quad Pumped Bus. It is expected that in the first half of 2004 Intel will reveal some new Celeron microprocessors with 256KB of L2 and 533MHz PSB made using 90nm fabrication process and featuring Prescott micro-architecture advantages.
