Intel introduced its 80200T processor based on Intel XScale technology that functions at speeds up to 733MHz while consuming less than 1.3 watts, and can operate at temperatures ranging from minus 40 to 85 degrees Celsius. This combination of performance, heat dissipation and environmental hardening make the 80200T processor practically ideal for a wide variety of applications in telematics, automotive, industrial and communications market segments where increasingly sophisticated products are designed for operation in demanding environmental situations.

The high-performance Intel 80200 processor can be matched with equipment makers' extended-temperature companion chips to create products ranging from advanced multimedia devices for automobiles to set-top boxes. Numerous solution-providers already adopted or plan to adopt the novelty in the near future.

In addition to 733 MHz, the Intel 80200T processor will be available at 600MHz, 400MHz and 200MHz, and is supported by a comprehensive development environment and a large ecosystem of third-party vendors.

All versions of the Intel 80200T processor will be generally available in February and cost $103, $66, $42 and $30 for 733MHz, 600MHz, 400MHz and 200MHz, respectively, in quantities of 10 000.
