We reported a few weeks ago that AMD started to supply their Athlon XP 2400+ and 2600+ processors in small quantities to a reseller in Scandinavia. It is quite strange, but since then AMD still has not managed to begin the volume shipments. Moreover, as stated by ExtremeTech, the USA-based resellers will only start getting the 2400+ and 2600+ CPUs in late- or mid-October.

Officials at Accubyte, a dealer in Illinois, said they expect to receive a supply of 2400+ processors next week, while a representative of Sonicparts, another reseller., said the firm expects the mentioned CPUs on October 29th. Meanwhile, ComputerHQ.com, based in San Jose, should receive supplies of the Athlon XP 2400+ and 2600+ at the same time, about mid-October, a salesperson said. In fact, according to AMD, NEC has been offering the Athlon XP 2400+ based personal computers from September. Moreover, NEC-UK offers its PowerMate i-Select Multimedia XL4 powered by Athlon XP 2600+ processors here. <%BANNER[article]%>

Frankly speaking, if I say that AMD cannot supply all its clients with the high-end processors, I think I will be right. Since the actual devices were announced on the 21st of August, it is a pity that AMD still cannot provide them for the customers after almost two month of waiting.

What about the recently unveiled AMD Athlon XP 2700+ and 2800+ processors then? If AMD has constant problems with increasing the core-frequency of their processors, one can doubt that the company will supply its novelties on time. However, we still may hope for the best.

Addedum: According to one of our readers, this computer store from the USA offers the Athlon XP 2400+ and 2600+ from October the 1st. Our reader said he has bought his 2400+ CPU and now uses it in his computer.

So, there are some Athlon XP 2400+ and 2600+ processors, but it seems that there are too few of them on the market yet.
