Intel Starts to Ship 3.0GHz Pentium 4 CPUs With 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus.

And Slashes the Price on 3.06GHz Processor

Intel today performed the most laconic Desktop CPU price cut ever. A little bit later than it was originally expected, Intel cut the price on its Pentium 4 3.06GHz. In addition, the company said that it began to supply its Pentium 4 processors with 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus, so, now Intel’s customers can not only get new chips with faster PSB, but also buy one older product for considerably lower price.

As expected, the 3.0GHz Pentium 4 costs $417, while the 3.06GHz brother is priced at $401, 32% less than previously. At this time I do not present you Intel and AMD CPU price comparison because AMD reportedly slashes its prices tomorrow and this comparison will have no practical value for anyone now.

We still do not know the reason of Pentium 4 processors with 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus delay, but given that the CPUs are now launched commercially, it seems that all the possible problems are resolved somehow. We will try to investigate on the matter.
