Numerous stores in Tokyo started to sell retail AMD Athlon XP 3200+ CPUs with 400MHz EV-6 FSB, 512KB L2 cache and 2200MHz core-clock for $482-$517. In the USA you can acquire the same product for $463 to $540, if you are lucky, the processor will cost you less than in Japan. The price is definitely not low at all, however, fortunately AMD Athlon XP chips get cheaper quickly, so, the 3200+ probably will be more affordable in several weeks time. Furthermore, expect more price cuts from AMD.

Keep in mind that in order to use the new AMD Athlon XP processor your mainboard should support 400MHz bus.
