Intel Corporation continues to aggressively fight low-cost AMD Athlon XP processors with inexpensive Celeron chips. Today the company cut the prices on its desktop Celeron processors. If I am not mistaken, these are the lowest prices on Intel Celeron CPUs in history, so, you can make conclusions about Intel’s aggressive behaviour nowadays.
I cannot say that the prices declined really a lot today, nevertheless, they are now on a very low level. I cannot remember a precedent similar to this one in the history of Intel Celeron. Moreover, this is the first time I remember in Intel’s history when it fully reconsiders the pricing of one CPU family twice a month. Remember that the company already cut the prices of Celeron chips on the 28th of April (see this news-story).

Intel will rolls-out its Celeron 2.50 and 2.60GHz processors in a month time (see this news-story). As you see now, it is very likely that 2.10GHz model will be phased-out from Intel’s official price-list by then, furthermore, the company may reconsider the pricing of the family in June, so, expect even faster Celeron processors for even less money.
AMD plans to lower the prices on its microprocessors later today.
