Intel Corporation today introduced the Celeron processor at 2.50 and 2.60GHz. We indicated the appearance and shipments of such processors several weeks ago, that is why the announcement comes with no surprise for us. Moreover, some of you may already use these processors.
<%BANNER[article]%>Intel Celeron 2.50 and 2.60GHz CPUs are made using 0.13 micron fabrication technology and utilise 400MHz Quad Pumped Bus. The new models feature only 128KB of L2 cache, just like their predecessors. Although competing solutions from AMD, namely Athlon XP 2500+ and 2600+ processors, are able to show tangibly higher performance level compared to Intel Celeron processors being priced similarly, Intel’s aggressive marketing will certainly make best-sellers from Celeron chips.
In 1000-unit quantities, the Intel Celeron processor at 2.60GHz is priced at $103, the 2.50GHz is priced at $89.
