In a bid to improve overall execution and ensure products delivery to the market in a timely manner, Advanced Micro Devices on Wednesday announced yet another reorganization. The new operating model centers the organization on four equally critical functions: products, technology, marketing and sales.

“We are tightening our focus on delivering the winning products and platforms our customers want based on AMD’s industry-leading microprocessor and graphics technologies. The next generation of innovation in the computing industry will be grounded in the fusion of microprocessor and graphics technologies. With these changes, we are putting the right organization in place to help enable the future of computing,” said Dirk Meyer, president and chief executive officer of AMD.

As a result of the new reorganization, AMD will merge various developers, designers and other specialists into special teams that will be responsible for development of future technologies, creation of actual products based on the new technologies, advertising of AMD’s products and sales of AMD’s products:

The new structure is designed to better optimize AMD’s operations to drive industry-leading performance graphics and microprocessors and further integrate the company’s x86 processor and graphics technologies.

The company also announced that Randy Allen, senior vice president of computing solutions group who was responsible for CPU development, has decided to leave the company.
