In a bid to quicker capture market share with its latest Fermi-architecture products, Nvidia Corp. reportedly plans to release an additional graphics card within the GeForce GTX 400-series, which will be based on the same GF100 chip, but with lower amount of streaming processors.
The name of the novelty will be the GeForce GTX 460 and it is projected to be launched in early June, according to a news-story by Expreview web-site. It is also known that it will carry 1GB of GDDR5 memory connected to the graphics processing unit (GPU) using 256-bit interface. Although Nvidia has code-named P1025 reference design for the GeForce GTX 460’s printed-circuit board (PCB), the company will allow its add-in-board partners to develop their own PCBs in order to differentiate themselves.
What is completely unclear at this point is the actual configuration of the GF100 graphics processor on this particular model. It is likely that the GeForce GTX 460 graphics processor will feature 416 stream processing units, 32 units less than on the GTX 470. However, the company may try to lower power consumption and price of the product even more and reduce the number of stream processors to 384.
Pricing of the GeForce GTX 460 is unknown, but since the GeForce GTX 470 has manufacturer suggested retail price of $349, it is logical to assume that the lower-end model will carry sub-$300 price-tag.
Nvidia did not comment on the news-story.

Wouldn't buy it. Best deal is the Radeon 5850 OC Edition. And if you want to have the best of the best Radeon 5970. Any Fermi card would really mess up mi light bill considering summer is coming and any power consumption from the video card will be doubled by the air conditioning

I'd expect the GTX 460 to be right in between a lackluster 5830 with castrated ROP's (that seems to actually be 128-bit instead of 256-bit if closely inspecting the architecture) and a 5850. Seeing how the GTX 470 barely beats a 5850, it would be such a surprise if the 460 actually matches up to a 5850.
It might not be until June at the very earliest anyways.
