Bulldozer Is On Track - AMD
[01/22/2011 11:06 AM]Advanced Micro Devices said that its concretization of Bulldozer micro-architecture launch does not mean a delay of the actual products, despite of the information published earlier that cited sources close to the company.
"The product is not delayed, Anton should not have used the "delay" word in his story because that is not true," said John Fruehe, director of product marketing for server, embedded and FireStream products at AMD, in a comment for a news-story.
According to Mr. Fruehe, Bulldozer client products are to be launched in Q2 2011, whereas Bulldozer server products launch is scheduled at Q3 2011.
Microprocessors with Bulldozer micro-architecture were supposed to hit the mass production sometime in April '11, according to unofficial sources. Back in early November it was, reported citing unofficial sources, that AMD would commence commercial manufacturing of code-named Llano accelerated processing units (APUs) for desktops and mobiles in July '11, which is Q3 2011.
"We have entered a new phase with our 32nm ramp and are now sampling thousands of Llano products to a wide variety of OEMs and ODMs as they prepare for production in Q2," said Thomas Seifert, interim chief executive officer of AMD, during a conference call with financial analysts.
The schedules have not changed, but Bulldozer is not delayed, according to Mr. Fruehe.
