The first image of what is believed to be the GeForce GTX 690 graphics card, a new dual-chip graphics flagship graphics card  from Nvidia Corp., has emerged on the web. Meanwhile, the multimedia chip designed has started a countdown on its web-site that counts days and hours until the launch of the new graphics solution.

The new GeForce GTX 690 graphics board resembles the model GTX 590 and its design is probably generally similar. The solution has one fan, which should be enough to cool-down two GeForce GTX 680 (GK104) graphics processing unit. The new graphics board is projected to be the world's highest-performing graphics board at least until Advanced Micro Devices unveils its highly-anticipated dual-chip Radeon HD 7990.

Let the Gpu wars begin, About bloody time!
680GTX finally released AMD drops 7970 prices, 690 about to be released AMD will counter with 7990, 780GTX(whatever they call the GK110) AMD 8000?
Finally some cards coming out from both manufacturers that will be a worthy upgrade from 480GTX SLI setup, First gen 28nm cards from both just didn't cut it for me, I am sure there are other enthusiasts out there both AMD and Nvidia that are still hanging for some real high end cards as well, Been too much hype over 28nm 3 times faster yeah right, More like 20% faster than last gen.

I am going to wait, I learned the hard way after Fermi. I wouldn't be surprised if this card turns out to be something the GTX590 should have been a true replacement for the GTX295. They still screwed up with the cooler design. Should have use one large mono block cooler with vapor chamber to cool both gpus at once with a full exhaust fan so that all the heat goes out the case. At least they gave it a mid plate but can't tell if there is a back plate. A good solid back plate will protect the card from damage as well help cooling.

I would really worried if I was nVidia with my major partner/graphic card user starting to put graphic capabilities into their chips. I know that Intel's in chip graphics are up to pawpaw now and the design of their chips make one wonder what they are playing at, but graphic on chip looks the way in which future cpu's are heading. AMD were 1st and as always Intel reverse engineer any good ideas and improve them.So if I was nVidia I would be looking over my shoulder.

Anyway the Dual Chip Nvidia card is true even if the picture is not. But why Nvidia suddenly release dual chip while lower end is not yet existent? Does this show that GTX680 is their only working chip in mass production?

They want to be FIRST this time with a 28nm dual card perhaps?
Usually that crown goes to AMD cards.

Looks like the joke is on you. Nvidia today (April 28th) announced the launch of GTX690 on May 3rd in a live presentation at the NVIDA Gaming Festival 2012 in Shanghai, China!

- 2 full fledged GTX680s in 300W power envelope, with a slight reduction in GPU boost to 1019 from 1058 on a single 680.
- Aluminum frame helps keep the 12-layer PC sturdy
- Magnesium casing on the Axial fan to keep it quieter at 3000 RPM
- Heat transfer will once again be provided by a pair of nickel tipped aluminum heatsinks attached to vapor chambers for each GPU, similar to GTX590
- MSRP $999

AMD will need HD7990 with 1000mhz GPU clocks to keep up, which we know is impossible. Also rumors point to HD7990 being crippled to just 850mhz per GPU. Thankfully, I think AMD can deliver actual volumes and hopefully price HD7990 at a more reasonable $799-849. NV might have won the marketing war, but unless they can actually get 690s to retailers in volumes, it's just going to sell out and be out of stocks for months.

That live feed was the worst I have ever seen! lol

690 paper launch over and done with but still not what I want, I want the GK110 to replace my 480's. Dual cards suck microstutter is still there like SLI.
Good thing is now that the 680 and 690 is over with they can now concentrate on the Big Kepler.
Bad luck AMD, Got your ass kicked this round, 7990 will be a a few months away, And it will be us Nvidia folks saying you have had an extra month or 2 to make a better GPU, Ring any bells
