Richtek Technology, a designer of power management chips, has filed lawsuit with the U.S. International Trade Commission accusing ATI, graphics business unit of Advanced Micro Devices, as well as its partners Diamond Multimedia, Sapphire Technology, XFX Technology and uPI Semiconductor of patent infringement.

Richtek also alleged the companies used its business secrets “inappropriately”, according to Taipei Times news-paper. The aforementioned companies produce graphics cards with improved overclocking capabilities and it is generally believed that Richtek finds voltage modification capabilities of those products (which probably use PWM controllers from uPI) to infringe three of its patents.

It is reported that Richtek wants to receive compensation for the alleged infringements.
