ATI Launches Ultimate Solution for Home Theater Personal Computers

ATI Radeon HD 5570: 400 Stream Processors, Blu-Ray 3D, Low-Profile Design

ATI, graphics business unit of Advanced Micro Devices, on Tuesday unveiled its Radeon HD 5570 graphics card, a product that promises to become an ultimate choice for home theater and small form-factor personal computers. The novelty boasts with rather high computing power, support for forthcoming Blu-ray 3D movies and, most importantly, comes in low-profile design.

 

"AMD recognizes that small form-factor PCs are becoming more popular and low profile graphics upgrade options have been limited to date. Customers purchasing small form factor PCs are looking for improved performance while gaming, watching HD video or working with the latest productivity applications. The ATI Radeon HD 5570 graphics card delivers all of this at a price that won't break the bank,” said Matt Skynner, vice president and general manager of AMD’s graphics division.

The new ATI Radeon HD 5570 graphics card is based on the code-named Redwood graphics processor that is made using 40nm process technology and consists of 627 million of transistors. ATI Radeon HD 5570 operates at 650MHz, features 400 stream processing units, 20 texture units, 8 render back ends and uses 1.80GHz GDDR3 memory. According to ATI, the new graphics product boasts with 520GFLOPS single precision computing power.

The new chip features 128-bit memory bus and can boast with support of DirectX 11; OpenGL 3.2; OpenCL 1.0; dual hardware full-HD video decoder that supports MPEG4-AVC, MPEG4-MVC, VC-1, Adobe Flash 10.1, WMV HD and so on; post-processing of high-definition video; built-in 7.1-channel audio core that can bitstream any loseless audio format, such as Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Master Audio or LPCM via HDMI 1.3a; ATI Eyefinity technology that can support output to up to three displays with 2560x1600 resolution as well as ATI’s latest technologies that trim power consumption and so on.

Thanks to 400 stream processors, efficient architecture, rich multimedia capabilities and DirectX 11 support, ATI Radeon HD 5570 has all chances to become an ideal solution for HTPCs or small desktops.

ATI set recommended pricing of the Radeon HD 5570 graphics card at $85, a suitable price-point for a graphics card designed for HTPCs.
