ATI Releases New DirectX 11 Graphics Board for $239

ATI, graphics business unit of Advanced Micro Devices, on Thursday unveiled a new graphics board that complements the lineup of DirectX 11 graphics accelerators by the company and will sell for around $239.


ATI Radeon HD 5830 graphics card is based on the cut-down version of the code-named Cypress (RV870) graphics processor and features 1120 stream processors, 56 texture units, 16 render back ends, 256-bit GDDR5 memory controller and is clocked at 800MHz. ATI recommends its partners to install 1GB of 4.0GHz memory on the 5830 models graphics boards.

The new chip can boast with support of DirectX 11; OpenGL 3.2; OpenCL 1.0; dual hardware full-HD video decoder that supports MPEG4-AVC, MPEG4-MVC, VC-1, Adobe Flash 10.1, WMV HD and so on; post-processing of high-definition video; built-in 7.1-channel audio core that can bitstream any loseless audio format, such as Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Master Audio or LPCM via HDMI 1.3a; ATI Eyefinity technology that can support output to up to six displays with 2560x1600 resolution as well as ATI’s latest technologies that trim power consumption and so on.

Since ATI Radeon HD 5830 graphics boards are essentially cut-down versions of the models 5850 and 5870, the actual cards may be long as the model 5870 and may consume rather high amount of power, something that is not appreciated on relatively inexpensive personal computers.

ATI Radeon HD 5830 will be available from different partners of AMD.
