A couple of days ago EPoX officially announced its two new mainboards based on VIA KT400 chipset. We reported about one of them in late August (see this news-story), however, at that time it was from an unofficial source, moreover, we were no able to tell you if EPoX launches only one mainboard or two of them.

Here are the brief specifications of the EP-8K9A2+ and EP-8K9A3+:

  • Support Socket A Athlon XP/Athlon/Duron processors;
  • VIA KT400 chipset with VT8235 South Bridge;
  • 4 DIMM slots for up to 4GB PC1600/PC2100/PC2700 memory;
  • 6 PCI and 1 AGP 8x slot;
  • 4-channel integrated ATA/133 RAID controller (HPT374) for EP-8K9A3+;
  • 2-channel integrated ATA/133 RAID controller (HPT372) for EP-8K9A2+
  • 10/100Mbit Ethernet (VIA VT6103);
  • 6 USB 2.0 ports;
  • 6-channel Realtek ALC650 sound controller supporting digital SPDIF Out;
  • Supports overclocking friendly features such as FSB frequency, Vcore and Vmem adjustment;
  • Onboard POST controller.

The mainboards should be available immediately, or, at least, very soon. Nothing is said in regards the pricing.
