Silicon Integrated Systems announced today that the company has extended its long term chipset license agreement with Intel Corporation. Following this extension, SiS receives legal rights to produce chipsets that are compatible with Intel Pentium 4 microprocessors operating at 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus when such CPUs are formally released.

Just like in case of VIA Technologies and ATI Technologies, specific details of the agreement are strictly confidential.

At this point we do not have any precise information about the products SiS may roll out for the processors with 800MHz QPB as we as we still do not know when the company is able to supply its forthcoming products. Basically speaking, as the de jure extension of chipset agreement came with no surprise, I believe that de facto the company has been having an appropriate chipset for a while. The only problem is that Intel does not seem to allow its chipset licensees to sell 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus-supporting core-logic in the first half, but to delay them towards the second half of the year.
