A web-site from over here disclosed details about Soyo SY-K8USA mainboard for AMD Athlon 64 processors. Besides the fact that this is the first mainboard for AMD Athlon 64 processors from Soyo, this is also the first mainboard for Socket 754 processors powered by an ALi chipset.

As you see from the picture, the mainboard is an advanced one with quite a lot of additional features. Also pay attention to the packaging of ALi M1687 AGP Tunnel, it looks just like AMD’s own 8151 AGP Tunnel. Seems like either ALi’s semiconductor chip-packaging partner now uses the same packaging techniques as AMD’s Malaysian plant, or maybe AMD packages devices for friendly third-parties; another way to express the surprise is to suppose that ALi M1687 AGP Tunnel is made by AMD and yet even another way is to say that is to wonder if ALi M1687 AGP Tunnel is AMD 8151 AGP Tunnel.

Take a look at technical specifications offered by Soyo SY-K8USA mainboard:

  • Supports Socket 754 Athlon 64 processors with HyperTransport link;
  • ALi M1687 APG Tunnel and ALi M1563 I/O Tunnel;
  • 2 DIMM slots for up to 4GB of PC2100, PC2700 or PC3200 DDR SDRAM memory;
  • 5 PCI slots, an AGP Pro 8x slot;
  • 2-channel ATA-133/100/66/33 integrated controller;
  • 1 extra Parallel ATA-133/100/66/33;
  • 2 Serial ATA-150 ports;
  • 6 USB 2.0 ports;
