You probably have seen mainboards and graphics cards made on green, yellow, red, black and even golden PCBs. Now it is time to blow your mind with violet mainboards based on Intel’s announced i875P “Canterwood” and not yet officially revealed i865PE and i865G “Springdale” chipsets. The novelties do not only catch your eye with very unusual color, but also meet your eyes with “Violet Eyes” brand-name.

Soltek announced that it now ships its SL-86SPE/-L, SL-86MP/-L mainboards powered by i865PE and i865G core-logic. The mainboards are available in special version “Violet Eyes” that catches your eyes with extreme violet color of PCB and coming in Soltek’s Special Violet packaging and hand bag.

SL-86SPE(-L) / SL-86MP(-L) mainboards adopt i865PE and i865GE + ICH5 chipsets, officially support 400/533/800MHz QPB processors, feature 4 DIMM slots for up to 4GB of PC2100/PC2700/3200 memory (dual-channel memory bus support: memory modules used should be identical and installed in pairs), an AGP 8x, 6 PCI slots, 2-channel ATA-33/66/100, 2-channel Serial ATA-150,  10/100Mb/s Ethernet controller (for -L only), 6-channel AC'97 sound, USB 2.0 and so on. Soltek claims that thanks to its unique R&D efforts, these mainboards are able to be overclocked to 1200MHz Quad Pumped Bus, although, it does not guarantee that every such device you get even in violet packaging in a retail shop near you will also be as overclockable (in fact, your Intel Pentium 4 CPU may not be able to work at so high frequencies).

Inscription on the packaging tells us that Soltek is not going to stick with only Springdale-based mainboards in its “Violet Eyes” series, but will also offer us Canterwood-based solutions sometimes in future.

Unfortunately, I can tell you nothing about the pricing of these eye-catching “Violet Eyes” mainboards.
