VIA KT400A was not a successful product and now it is an important task for VIA Technologies to deliver its KT600 core-logic on the market as soon as possible. We reported about a number of companies who decided to abandon their KT400A projects in order to go KT600 straight away and once the latter is available, VIA’s sales will begin to rise. One of such companies, who are waiting for VIA KT600, is Albatron, who will shortly unveil its VIA KT600-based mainboard.

SweModders web-site managed to get the specifications of the mainboard and shared this information with all of us. The VIA KT600 device from Albatron which brand is yet to be unveiled, will support all possible and impossible AMD Socket A processors, including the latest Athlon XP chips with Barton core and 400MHz FSB. It will feature 3 DIMM slots for up to 3GB of PC2100, PC2700 or PC3200 (DDR400) memory and AGP 8x for external graphics card. Besides, the mainboard will come equipped with 5 PCI slots. The device will utilize VT8237 I/O controller, hence, expect it to support 2-channel ATA-33/66/100/133, 2-channel Serial ATA-150 controller, 6 USB 2.0 ports; 6-channel audio and so on. There may be a couple of different versions of the mainboard, one with 10/100Mb/s LAN controller from 3Com, another without.

Exact pricing and availability details are absent, though, I expect the product to come rather soon and be quite affordable.
