More and more mainboard makers adopt VIA Technologies’ new PT800 core-logic. Today we discovered that Soltek, a company that has always been very loyal to VIA, will shortly start to sell its SL-85FRV2 mainboard using VIA PT800 + VT8237 chipset and designed for Intel Socket 478 processors.
The solution will hardly boast with high performance, but it will definitely offer a lot of features at not very high price point. Soltek’s SL-85FRV2 mainboard will be available in different versions depending on availability of certain capabilities. The most feature-rich device supports all Intel Socket 478 processors with 400, 533 and 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus, 3 DIMM slots for up to 3GB of PC2100, PC2700 or PC3200 (DDR400) memory, AGP 8x, 6 PCI slots, 2-channel ATA-33/66/100/133, 2-channel Serial ATA-150 controller, 8 USB 2.0 ports, 10/100Mb/s LAN, 6-channel audio and so on.
The mainboard is made using red PCB, but it is hardly an extraordinary peculiarity these days.
