ASUSTeK Computer does not stay behind its rival MSI and today announces the P4P800S and ASUS P4P800S-E mainboards build around the i848P, the latest cost-effective chipset in Intel Springdale family. The company positions its new product as a cost-effective solution for Intel Pentium 4 as well as next-generation Prescott processors with 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus and the Hyper-Threading technology.

The P4P800S/P4P800S-E mainboards provide nearly all features and capabilities supported by current products from ASUSTeK and boast with quite impressive specifications for their market segments:

  • Supports Socket 478 Pentium 4/Celeron processors with 400/533/800MHz FSB with 3.20GHz clock-speed and above;
  • Can take advantage of the CPUs with the Hyper-Threading technology enabled;
  • i848P chipset with ICH5 (for ASUS P4P800S) or ICH5R (for ASUS P4P800S-E) I/O controller;
  • 3 DIMM slots (2 for P4P800S) for up to 2GB of PC2100, PC2700 or PC320 DDR SDRAM memory;
  • 5 PCI and 1 AGP 8x slot;
  • ASUS WiFi slot;
  • 2-channel ATA-100/66/33 integrated controller;
  • 2 Serial ATA-150 ports (with RAID support on ASUS P4P800S-E);
  • 8 USB 2.0 ports;
  • 2 FireWire (IEEE1394) ports;
  • 10/100/1000Mb/s Ethernet adapter from Intel on ASUS P4P800S-E;
  • 10/100Mb/s Ethernet on ASUS P4P800S;
  • 6-channel audio solution with SPDIF support;
  • Lots of additional functions and technologies;
  • Some overclocking functions;
  • ATX Form Factor.
