Although during IDF shows in the USA most of the news-stories are Intel-related, AMD’s partners also remind about their existence as well as announce some new products. Albatron this week launched its new K8X800 Pro II mainboard with loads of innovations and integrated capabilities onboard. This mainboard even deserves to be called as one of the most feature-rich Socket 754 platforms revealed so far!

Albatron K8X800 Pro II is probably the only Socket 754 mainboard that integrates VIA Envy 24PT audio solution and provides 8-channel audio in addition to 6 PCI slots, Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire and Serial ATA-150 with RAID support. Only Chaintech Zenith ZNF3-150 is able to compete with Albatron’s solution in terms of additional capabilities, as far as I know.

What is also quite interesting to point out is that the product will appear in stores near you shortly, as Albatron really wants to start selling AMD64 mainboards among the other pioneers.

For your convenience I compiled the technical specifications of the Albatron K8X800 Pro II product in one list:

  • Supports Socket 754 AMD Athlon 64 processors;
  • VIA K8T800 and VT8237 core-logic;
  • 3 DIMM slots for up to 3GB of PC2100, PC2700 or PC3200 DDR SDRAM;
  • 6 PCI and 1 AGP 8x slot;
  • 2-channel integrated ATA-33/66/100/133 controller;
  • 2 Serial ATA-150 ports with RAID support;
  • 10/100/1000Mb/s Ethernet adapter from 3Com;
  • 8 USB 2.0 ports;
  • 2 FireWire (IEEE1394) ports;
  • Integrated AC`97 8-channel VIA Envy 24PT audio solution with S/PDIF connector;
  • Loads of additional functions and technologies from Albatron;
  • Probably, some overclocking and tuning functions;
  • ATX Form-factor.

Albatron K8X800 Pro II will show up later this month in retail around the world. Additionally, Albatron will also release some less advanced mainboards with lower price.
