Taiwan, Taipei-based Silicon Integrated Systems today disclosed its sales results for September 2003. For the first time in more than a year the company declared year-over-year decline in revenues, even though its sequential results improved.

Monthly revenue for September was approximately $45.88 million based on the company’s preliminary estimate. This is a 7% decrease compared to September 2002, and an increase of 14% over August 2003. The 2003 year-to-date revenue is estimated at $378.76 million, a 18% increase over the same period a year ago.

This is a very unpleasant fact for the chipset designer that SiS’ sales in September were lower than a year ago amid general IT industry rebound. This means that the company is loosing a share in one or multiply markets at the point. On the whole, nothing really dramatic happened – there are successful moths and there are not so successful times, but every unpleasant experience encourages us to think about its reasons and consequences.
