MicroStar International plans to unleash its own series of mainboards for hardcore gamers at CeBIT 2013 trade-show next month. MSI G-series motherboards will feature advanced overclocking capabilities, advanced network cards as well as a special port with increased polling rate specially designed for advanced peripherals used by gamers.

MSI’s G-series mainboards will directly compete against Asustek Computer’s Republic of Gamers (ROG) as well as Asrock’s Fatal1ty families of advanced mainboards and will in some cases offer even better functionality tailored specifically for gamers. For example, MSI G-series motherboards will be equipped with Qualcomm Atheros Killer E2205 Gigabit Ethernet network adapter that prioritizes video-games related network packages, which provides shorter latency. In addition, the mainboards will feature MSI Gaming Device Ports, a PS/2 port with up to 1000Hz polling rate for advanced mice.

The G-series lineup from MSI will probably come in several version for different processors and will use black and red color gamma. Expect MSI to utilize advanced and durable components to provide better overclocking as well as improved tweaking capabilities that will make the G-series standout in MicroStar International’s family.

“We are truly excited to cooperate with Qualcomm Atheros on the implementation of their unique technology on our soon to be announced gaming motherboards. This puts MSI in the driver’s seat for gaming motherboards with a balanced lineup that hits all critical price-points for gamers,” said Ted Hung, vice president MSI motherboard department.

The latest revision of the Killer network chip has many advantages for gamers over previous revisions found on other motherboards. A new and upgraded driver and user interface will deliver a great user experience, allowing gamers to take full control of their network traffic and its prioritization. With Killer networking, gamers can finally maximize the utilization of their gaming PC’s simply because they are no longer limited to only running one bandwidth critical application at a time. The Killer E2200 also comes with drivers that support both Windows and Linux operating systems.

The G-series mainboards is a logical addition to MSI’s product lineup as the company already offers G-series notebooks aimed at gamers that also integrate Qualcomm Atheros Killer network adapters as well as enhanced performance.

It remains to be seen how successful will MSI’s G-series mainboards will be against Asus ROG and Asrock Fatal1ty products, which have been around for years and which are already popular among gamers.
